At Youboom we take climate change seriously and we are actively making changes to reduce our carbon emissions. Our Director Gordon Watson, has become the green champion of our business and the local community by introducing, coordinating, and managing the company's response to this important challenge as well as raising awarenenss in the local Gold Coast business community through the Chamber of Commerce.

Youboom is an online communications company, this means instead of an office based environment, the business can be managed from a simple series of home studios in Pottsville in the New South Wales Northern Rivers and from Burleigh on Australia's Gold Coast. By using a series of home studios, Youboom staff only have an online commute as opposed to a physical commute.

Youboom has adopted a policy of Reuse, Reduce, and Green Up in the workplace with a view to achieving a carbon neutral status by 2010.

Youboom undertake the following initiatives:

* Recycling in the workplace - Plastic, paper, organic, and electronic waste are recycled
* The use of low energy light bulbs in the workplace
* Education of sub contractors to begin undertaking a Reuse, Reduce, Green Up initiatives in their workplace
* Regular environmental features in the monthly Youboom eNewsletter - Boom Bites
* Insulation installed in the Youboom Offices
* Set air-conditioning (where applicable) to 23 degrees celsius
* Adopted a switch off policy - if you are not using it turn it off (at the power point)
* The use of a lower carbon emitting vehicle - Honda Hybrid
* Scheduling of meeting which require travel for specific days to reduce  emissions travel associated with travel
* Carbon offset through the Bendigo Bank
* Actively choose suppliers who are reducing their carbon footprint and taking steps to preserve our natural environment
* The purchase of Country Green 100%  - Green Energy from Country Energy
* A company ban has been imposed on unsolicited mail and unnecessary direct mail
* Company invoicing is conducted electronically
* Ongoing support for Clean Up Australia Day - Currumbin Estuary - in conjunction with Wilson National
* Ongoing support for Earth Hour
* Use recycled water for outside use and watering of the native gardens surrounding the office.
